Five questions you must ask in an interview.
One of the best ways you can stand out in the interview process may not actually be how you answer, but what you ask!
Here are some questions to help you stand out against other candidates:
1) After 90 days in the role, what would you like to see from me that gives you the confidence to say “Wow, Nick was an excellent hire”?
This question helps the hiring manger envision you being successful in the role. You can also show your personality here in your tone.
2) You’ve mentioned XYZ and I feel like I am a great fit for ABC reasons. But, do you have any hesitations about offering me the role?
Always close! You’d be surprised as to how few people ask for the business (the job)…but also take the extra second to ensure any and all holes in their candidacy are addressed. This demonstrate your attention to detail throughout the interview process as well as confidence in your alignment with the role.
3) I noticed the average tenure of the team is X. Why would you say everyone has stayed (or left)?
This demonstrates that you’ve done your research and want to validate your culture fit with the company/team.
4) What challenges is the team/org facing right now and how are they being tackled?
You can align yourself to helping solve these challenges, or at the very least speak to how you can work through them effortlessly.
5) What are some habits or tips that the top performers do really well?
Demonstrate that you are here to learn and have the aptitude/intentions to be a high performer!
